Distribution:  Two species in N. Hemisphere; perennial herbs of marshy places.

Synonyms:  Acorus was included in the family Araceae in the past. Cronquist did so in 1981, but separated the Acoraceae in 1988.

Notes:    Cronquist separates Acorus from Araceae as a separate family Acorace in his 1988 book. Even in his 1981 treatment, Cronquist says that Acorus stands apart from other members of the Araceae.
